For over 35 years, we've been listening.
Diagnostic audiology services are available for older children and adults to provide support for your doctor when there are problems of hearing loss or tinnitus (ringing in the ear). These services are usually covered by insurance when your doctor refers you to us. Hearing aid consultations, evaluations, fitting and follow-up are provided using the most advanced equipment available. A unique fitting system allows you to see what you are hearing and to compare the benefits of hearing instrument use. Many hearing aid repairs can be done while you wait. Our goal is to discover as much about your hearing and listening needs as possible to develop a plan to restore your hearing to its best possible quality. If you have been struggling with hearing loss, we can show you how to rejoin the conversations of life!
Complete Hearing Evaluation
Your hearing is thoroughly tested to determine the nature and cause of your loss. Test results may be sent to your physician who may help us manage your hearing health care.
Hearing aid consultation, selection, and fitting.
If your hearing can be improved by using hearing aids, we use the most advanced technology
to help you make the right selection based on your unique listening and lifestyle needs.
Hearing Aids: What we Consider.
Your hearing instrument must be a precise match for your type and degree of loss. It should fit comfortably and it should be either manually or automatically adjustable. We use seven factors to determine the right hearing aid for you.
Loss Characteristics:
The nature and severity of your hearing loss plays the biggest role in helping us choose the right device.
Lifestyle:
We look at your working life, your recreational activities, and your and social life to help select the right match. What activities in your life are most affected by hearing loss? Do you work outside in the elements? Do you attend the symphony? Do you travel? If you are concerned about durability, you could consider a back-up instrument. We are experts at helping you define your needs and set priorities.
Technology:
Sound quality is the most important consideration. Not complexity, not size, and not price–but sound quality. Costlier does not always mean better. And not every technological advancement benefits all hearing losses. Sometimes, simpler is better. Basic hearing instruments can deliver excellent sound quality for selected environments.
Handling:
It's important to assess your ability to manage the instrument. If your eyesight and/or dexterity are not what they once were, the smallest of instruments will not work for you. Hidden though they might be, smaller is not necessarily better.
Appearance:
Others are far less aware of our hearing aids than we realize. Though they range in size from tiny, completely-inside-the-canal models to those that sit behind the hear, we'll help you choose the one that gives you best hearing possible, with a "look" you can live with.
Physiology:
The shape and size of the outer ear and ear canal can make it difficult for some people to wear particular styles of hearing instruments. For example, in-the-canal devices won't work for those with very narrow ear canals.
One Ear or Two?
Generally, two ears are better than one. Binaural or two-ear hearing is what helps you determine where sounds are coming from, and to distinguish between competing sounds. About two-thirds of new hearing aid purchasers opt for dual hearing instruments, and as a group, they report a higher level of satisfaction than purchasers of a single instrument. However, when only one is needed, we will recommend it.
Satisfaction Guaranteed
Once you experience the world of difference it makes to hear well again, you won't want to miss another word! However, sometimes the first instruments you try will need adjustments. Our frequent follow-up appointments and 30-day evaluation period ensure that we have found the right match for you.We provide close follow-up, adjusting your hearing aids as necessary to assure your maximum benefit. As your needs change, our services continue throughout the life of your instruments.
Assistive Devices
When a hearing aid is not enough, we offer devices that will improve your ability to hear the television, the telephone, or in exceptionally noisy places.
Auditory Training, Listening training, and Speech Reading Instruction
Hearing is one thing but understanding what you hear is another. We offer specialized training to help you develop your auditory and speech reading skills.
